Verdek is excited to announce that we are in the process of installing five state-of-the-art pantograph up chargers at the Grand Avenue Depot in Queens, New York. This project is part of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (MTA) initiative to transform its bus fleet into a zero-emission one by 2040.
The pantograph up chargers, manufactured by ABB, are designed to provide fast and reliable charging for electric buses. They can deliver up to 450 kW of power in less than six minutes, allowing the buses to run for longer distances without compromising on performance. The chargers are also equipped with smart features such as remote monitoring, diagnostics, and software updates.
Verdek, as a leading provider of electric vehicle charging solutions, was selected by the MTA as a vendor for this project. We are working closely with the MTA, ABB, and other partners to ensure the smooth and timely delivery of the chargers. We will also provide training and support for the MTA staff on how to operate and maintain the chargers.
We are honored to be part of this historic project that will benefit the environment, the economy, and the community. By switching to electric buses, the MTA will reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 500,000 metric tons per year, save $200 million in fuel and maintenance costs per year, and improve the air quality and health of millions of New Yorkers.
Verdek is committed to advancing the electrification of transportation in North America. We offer a wide range of charging solutions for various applications, such as public transit, fleet management, workplace, residential, and commercial.
