Monroe, CT – Verdek LLC is proud to announce the successful completion of a state-of-the-art EV charging infrastructure project for the IRS site in Austin, Texas. This ambitious undertaking, marked by innovative solutions and meticulous execution, underscores Verdek’s commitment to sustainability, efficiency, and future-readiness.
A Vision for the Future
The project established a robust foundation for a scalable EV charging network, with three dual Level 2 (L2) charging stations installed and infrastructure prepared for an additional 16 L2 stations. In anticipation of future upgrades, Verdek upsized conduits to accommodate potential 100AMP breaker installations, ensuring adaptability as EV adoption accelerates. These future-proofing measures minimize the need for disruptive and costly modifications down the road.
Efficiency and Cost-Effectiveness
Verdek’s project management approach emphasized efficiency and cost-effectiveness at every stage. Strategic planning and optimized resource allocation enabled the team to deliver a high-quality installation while adhering to tight budgets and timelines. By incorporating scalable design elements, Verdek reduced long-term maintenance and upgrade costs, delivering exceptional value to the IRS and its stakeholders.
Overcoming Challenges with Ingenuity
Executing the project involved solving complex logistical and technical challenges:
- Interfacing with Existing Systems: Tapping into the Main Distribution Panel (MDP) within the building required a power shutdown, demanding careful coordination to prevent operational disruptions.
- Extensive Excavation: Significant portions of asphalt and concrete were excavated and restored to integrate the infrastructure seamlessly.
- High-Capacity Components: Installation included a new 480V switchgear to power a Level 3 (L3) charging station and a step-down transformer feeding a 208V panel.
Despite these challenges, the result is a visually striking and fully operational charging hub that meets current needs and anticipates future demands.
Future-Ready and Environmentally Conscious
“Our team delivered a project that exemplifies the balance between innovation, operational efficiency, and environmental stewardship,” said Guy Mannino, CEO of Verdek LLC. “The IRS site in Austin now stands as a blueprint for cost-effective, scalable EV charging infrastructure. We’re proud to contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable future with this project.”
